Russia Sentences 4 Jehovah’s Witnesses to Lengthy Prison Terms
A Russian court has sentenced four members of Jehovah's Witnesses to up to seven years in prison, the religious organization said Monday.
Men in the Far East town of Birobidzhan were accused of organizing and
financing "extremist" activities by holding joint worship services.
He was detained in May 2018 as part of a special operation
involving 150 security agents raiding 22 homes – codenamed "Judgment Day".
More than four years later, the city court found the worshipers - Sergei Shulyarenko,
Valery Krieger, Alam Aliyev and Dmitry Zagulin - guilty of extremism.
